New report highlights ERC funding on AI research
A new report published by the European Research Council (ERC) highlights findings from an analysis of 1,048 ERC-funded projects on the development of AI technology and systems, their application in various domains, and research into their societal impacts. Since its inception in 2007, the ERC has invested more than €2 billion in frontier research on artificial intelligence (AI), according to a new report. The document identifies a substantial number of projects in health (238) and green transition (219), spanning research in clinical practice, automation of diagnostics, biomedical research, and projects addressing climate action and energy transition. Furthermore, the report outlines ethical considerations surrounding ERC-funded AI projects for instance related to the use of personal data.
