INSPIRING ERA Policy Brief calls for stronger European support to turn research into societal and economic value
The INSPIRING ERA project has published a policy brief on Knowledge Valorisation which explores how Europe can create better conditions for turning research results into practical economic and societal value. Drawing on 24 interviews across 13 European countries and additional stakeholder input, the brief provides practice-oriented insights into how Knowledge Valorisation is implemented across researcher, demand-side, institutional, national and European levels. It highlights key challenges such as limited skills and incentives, uneven institutional support, capacity constraints, fragmented funding and the need for more practical ERA instruments, while also showcasing successful approaches from across Europe. The publication offers recommendations for the European Commission and Member States on strengthening skills development, intermediary organisations, demand-driven collaboration, stable funding, practical guidance and more coherent support frameworks across the European Research Area.
