The Guild joins International Coalition for science, research and innovation in Ukraine
The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities has become a member of the International Coalition for science, research and innovation in Ukraine. The Coalition is a multi-stakeholder initiative which addresses the urgent and long-term recovery of Ukraine’s research and innovation sector. The initiative was launched by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science, UNESCO and the European Commission by signing the Rome Declaration of Intent for Science, Research and Innovation and aims to provide a platform for stakeholders to mobilise support for Ukraine’s R&I ecosystem and advocate for its role in Ukraine’s broader recovery.
Through its membership The Guild expresses its commitment to strengthen the contribution of universities to widespread efforts to rebuild Ukraine, contributing to the Coalition's shared goals to:
- Raise awareness of the critical role of R&I in Ukraine's reconstruction and advocacy efforts;
- Assist in the reconstruction and modernisation of Ukraine’s science and research infrastructure;
- Facilitate the mobility and integration of Ukrainian researchers during and after the war to enable them to continue their scientific work;
- Promote technology transfer to enhance Ukraine’s innovation ecosystem;
- Support Ukraine’s long-term integration into the EU and the international research community.
