Is Horizon Europe attractive for new participants? Breaking down participation trends

This report analyses the participation of newcomers in Horizon Europe compared with organisations that previously participated in Horizon 2020 (and that returned to Horizon Europe, “returning participants”). It examines general trends for newcomers (type of participating entities, number of project participations by entity), and compares these trends to the ones observed in Horizon 2020. It also examines application and success rates of newcomers, and pillar and country participation. The report builds on the findings and methodology used in previous analyses on newcomers in R&I framework programmes; ie. the Newcomers Monitoring Flash of 2022 (“Main trends in Horizon 2020, first evidence from Horizon Europe”).
